Training

Introduction

As part of its comprehensive training program, AcousticEye offers three courses for Pulse Reflectometry (PR): Level I and Level II as well as a specially customized Level IA for quality managers and/or circumstances in which conventional NDT certification practices are not required.

All courses follow the general outline of industry recommended formats as described in ASNT SNT-TC-1A and/or CP-105-2006 and are taught by expert AcousticEye instructors.

Following the training, documentation will be provided by AcousticEye indicating the student's performance on the qualification examination and the completion of the specified course. Acceptance of this documentation and any associated certification is the responsibility of the individual's employer.

Level I

In this 3 day program, a classroom sessions introducing the theory of pulse reflectometry (PR) is followed by an overview of DUET™ system operation and hands-on practice. Successful completion of the course will equip the student with the capabilities necessary to perform an on-site inspection using the DUET™ system.

Who should attend Level I

Any individual interested in learning the basic technique of dual mode Pulse Reflectometry and/or performing tube and pipe inspections using the DUET™ system in an NDT environment.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for this course. A High School diploma or equivalent is recommended.

Curriculum

This course includes a total of 24 hours over 3 days. For successful course completion, a 70% minimum per exam with a total composite grade of 80% is required.

Recommendations for Level I Certification

The following qualifications are recommendations only:

Successful completion of Pulse Reflectometry Level I course PR Level I endorsement
Minimum experience in Pulse Reflectometry method 80 hours
Minimum experience in NDT 400 hours

 

Level II

In this 5 day program, the theory of pulse reflectometry and principles of PR analysis are covered in-depth and are followed by intensive hands-on training sessions. Individuals completing this course will be able to perform analysis of Pulse Reflectometry data and prepare inspection reports from the DUET™ system.

Who should attend Level II

Any individual with experience in Pulse Reflectometry that seeks a deeper understanding of the method and wishes to perform data analysis and report generation using the DUET™ system.

Prerequisites

Successful completion of Pulse Reflectometry Level I or Level IA.

This course includes a total of 40 hours over 5 days. For successful course completion, a 70% minimum per exam with a total composite grade of 80% is required.

Level IA

This unique 5 day program includes a classroom sessions introducing the theory of pulse reflectometry (PR) and principles of PR analysis, an overview of DUET™ system operation and hands-on practice. Successful completion of this course will provide the student with Level I qualification (including knowledge of how to perform inspections using the DUET™ system) as well as a basic understanding of Pulse Reflectometry data analysis.

Who should attend Level IA

Any individual seeking a Level I training while also gaining some knowledge of PR data analysis using the DUET™ system. This course is ideal for:

  • Quality managers interesting in gaining a better understanding of the PR inspection performed by their respective NDT inspection service providers
  • R&D employees operating and/or testing the DUET™ system
  • Circumstances in which conventional NDT certification practices are not required

Prerequisites
